It’ll just be for the new users that sign up, but I have a creeping suspicion that this isn’t actually meant to curb the bot problem and will eventually be pushed onto legacy users, probably within 6 months.

The main impact will be to organic user signups, new users who are human will just dip out as soon as they’re asked to fill in credit card information to use basic features.
