If anyone couldn’t join #OpenEngaged from @britishlibrary.bsky.social for #OAWeek today, this thread is amazing and captures so much of the key information!
It's International #OAWeek, continuing the call to put “Community over Commercialization” and prioritize approaches to open scholarship that serve the best interests of the public and the academic community.

An interesting question about requiring Open Metadata & whether CC0 is the appropriate licence. Many institutions are reticent about making their collections data and metadata openly available. Web-crawlers & AI bots can overload our repository systems if they are entirely open #OpenEngaged #OAWeek

Ingest is a quick and easy process with pragmatic mapping to Spectrum. PIDs are assigned (as they are a cornerstone of FAIR data) & APIs are used so that the raw data can be transferred for onward use, where rights permit. #OpenEngaged #OAWeek

COAR Notify is predominantly being used to support authors who have deposited their preprint in a repository to:
- request peer review from a review service
- request to be published by an overlay journal
- link a dataset in 1 repository with an article in a different repository

In the Q&A now, and a discussion of how research metrics such as Impact Factor work against open repositories. Recognition and reward have to look beyond citation-based metrics as these should not be interpreted as a direct measure of research quality. #OpenEngaged #OAWeek
