I don't see it as hypocrisy; we'll agree to disagree. Trudeau is there to protect the interests of Canada; it's not "giving him a pass" because Trudeau doesn't have oligarch ambitions.

I very much doubt he's cozying up; more likely, he's there to tell him that big tariffs against Canada and Mexico are a bad idea. That's Trump's Commerce Secretary nominee Howard Lutnick next to Trudeau.
