I’m originally and multi-generationally a native of Mississippi, and this has absolutely nothing to do with a concern for child safety. Mississippi is, at its core, a racist institution. If you are there, and can see this message - you need to get out before it is too late.

Speaker Johnston also said that all we can do right now is “pray”. Bullshit. We could have not gutted and stressed the workforce at NOAA and the National Weather Service and funded critical Early Warning Systems that would have reduced the risk of these deaths. This is a DOGE efficiency impact.

CO₂-equivalent (CO₂e) in ppm is a metric that expresses the total warming effect of the major long-lived greenhouse gases—like CO₂, methane, and nitrous oxide— expressed as the concentration of CO₂ alone that would produce the same radiative forcing. Keeling’s curve gives the measurements for CO₂.

Yep. In 2024, atmospheric CO₂ rose by a record 3.58 ppm over the previous year—the largest annual jump in the 67-year Keeling Curve record. This acceleration is incompatible with pathways to limit global warming to 1.5°C, signaling we are moving into uncharted climate territory faster than expected.
