While I waited for my friend to be moved to recovery I reflected on Amber Thurman and others like her. I had a moment of dread— she, like my friend, should have received compassionate care. Amber like my friend, should still be here. 6/

There were no angry protesters and calls to “not 💀 her baby “ it was a sterile and compassionate experience. 5/

When I escorted my friend to the outpatient surgical clinic for her procedure, I was impressed with the professionalism and compassion of the clinical team. 4/

Yesterday my focus was her, today (my focus is STILL her) yet, an overwhelming rage flooded my psyche. 3/

For reference my friend and I live in Chicago in estate where abortion access remains legal however, has she not been in Chicago, and her reproductive rights, fully intact, the situation could’ve had a tragic outcome. 2/
