Are you an environmental economist or maybe just interested in environmental economics?🌿📊

Then my simple Environmental Economics feed might be for you! The feed is quite simple and might be refined in the future, but it's a good starting place.

A 3-day trip to the Swedish mountains was exactly what I needed to gather the last bit of energy to finish my thesis. 🗻

Not more than a week ago I let my mind wander back to my climbing trip to Kalymnos in May, mainly due to the relatively bad summer. Now the heatwave have hit northern Sweden and I long for the early summer weather of Kalymnos which felt just perfect. Can't wait to go back.

📢 New paper alert! We challenge the idea that markets > standards for cutting industrial pollution. In the race to zero-carbon, performance standards may be the real game-changer.

15+ years old, but still VERY relevent — and if we had acted 15 years ago, the “better world” we’d be creating would be a LOT better & easier to reach. There are real consequences we’re just starting to see to not heeding this cartoon a lot sooner. Even worse if we don’t heed it now. #ClimateCrisis

This is what many cities in the U.S. looked like before the EPA.

Why the heck would anyone celebrate deregulating it?

Feels like stress is catching up to me. In the past three months, I've been sick more often than during my entire PhD journey.

Sick, once again! I really do not have time for this and there is a risk that I will miss our advisory board meeting in which I was hoping to get some valuable feedback on my third paper for the thesis. I guess I just hunker down with vitamins, tea/coffee and cough drops.

Exploring SF is amazing and I am really looking forward to a couple more days here.

After all, I managed to meet the deadlines. Now, onwards to San Francisco and #ASSA2025!

Great post on the relationship between whaling and fossil fuels. Kerosene did not displace whale oil and save the whales. Rather, whale oil augmented petroleum based lubricants. Whaling peaked in the 1960, not 1860s.

My weakness has for a long time been academic writing. I find it hard to start the writing process, but as soon as I take some time with it I find it quite fun.

So how do you practice writing other than the obvious, writing articles?

I'm looking to connect with economists that share my interest in environmental policy during the ASSA meeting in San Francisco.

Would anyone be up for a lunch?

I was starting to worry about the lack of snow up here in the north these last couple of weeks, but last night's snowfall finally delivered. We will have a white Christmas after all.

Do you remember your first video game? 🕹️ My first memory of a video game is playing "Combat"on an old Atari 2600. The step from the Atari 2600 to the SNES was huge!

Honestly I am feeling lost, can someone working in R give me a hint of where I might have gone wrong in importing the data in Day 2 of Advent of Code? #AdventofCode

As I took on #AdventofCode this year I realized how spoiled I have been with well structured datasets. Solving the problems in R feels challenging and sometimes hopeless!

How do you deal with submitted papers that gets stuck as "under review" for extended amounts of time (8 months and counting)? I have, without any luck, tried to reach the EOs in order to get an update as to why its stuck under review.
