There is some ambiguity as to whether the rays from malefics that enclose planets have to be from square or opposition figures, or if they can also be from sextile and trine figures. Porphyry gives an example in which a ray from a trine is part of a "containment" (a variation of enclosure). We can thus assume that rays from any of the figures carry, at least in part, the nature of the planet emitting them. Enclosure by rays is by whole sign aspect, but intervention necessitates the 7° orb range.

Here's a quick starter of what I consider basics: For Hellenistic astrology: Avelar and Ribeiro's On the Heavenly Spheres, Brennan's Hellenistic Astrology, Demetra George's Ancient Astrology volumes, then Ptolemy, Firmicus, and Valens while recognizing the latter is idiosyncratic For Islamicate: Avelar and Ribeiro's On the Heavenly Spheres, Holden's a History of Horoscopic astrology, al Qabisi (Burnett trans), Abu Ma'shar's Greater Introduction (Burnett trans), Ibn Labban (Yano trans), and from here dive into Arabic: Ibn Hibinta, Sahl then al Rijal In this order you'd have strong fundamentals in either path and then can move to advanced tech. But you have to read these first.

it's so simple but this thread and finding this tweet. and asking Max about dignity during my consultation with him. it sounds so silly but truly to me the power and resources analogies made it harder for me to understand
