I don't know if it's a "generation gap" thing as much as it is a target-customer thing.

If you're a B2B startup and you tell your enterprise customer that you're hosted on a non-hyperscaler, they're going to have a million questions. Hyperscalers (sometimes) check boxes and get you to deals faster.

I would have loved to hear more from AWS about why that didn't happen or wasn't possible, and what specifically is happening to prevent that situation from occurring again.

I read Jonathon's post this weekend and this sentence summarizes for me the crux of my technical frustration with the whole thing:

When you say "a new template" do you mean "a new slide layout", or is the same information being sliced and diced in different ways? Is the Apps Script doing any data transformation or just setting parameters on the slide itself and moving stuff around?

Although it's hard to get right, I think there actually might be quite a few examples of this. For instance AI labs aren't really devtools companies or advertising themselves as such, and they've done a pretty good job with Claude, Codex, etc., all things considered.
