MBT group therapy = emotional CrossFit.
It builds resilience; you learn to spot your own triggers, regulate, reflect, and get curious—in front of other people doing the same thing. @drwilliamsharp.bsky.social

One last thought: I loved hearing how people interpret music—some tie it to memories, others to lyrics and emotion. So cool to see the different ways we connect to sound. (I presented on song lyric analysis today!) 🎶🧠 @drwilliamsharp.bsky.social

Finished my presentation today and feeling so relieved 🫠 One of my classmates presented on play therapy—coloring and fidgeting with toys made me feel like a kid again. Genuinely so therapeutic. I really needed it. 🎨🧸 @drwilliamsharp.bsky.social

Manualized CBT helps only a subset of patients, and the small gains often evaporate, whereas psychodynamic work delivers deeper, longer-lasting change. Don't confuse statistical significance with real-world impact. @drwilliamsharp.bsky.social

Dr. Sharp’s Talking Helps (Ch. 2) posed a tricky question: Is the responsibility of healing with the therapist or the patient? 🤔 I realized my instinct would be to carry it all as a clinician, but that’s a fast track to burnout. Healing is a partnership. @drwilliamsharp.bsky.social

Today in class, we discussed how medication and therapy should work together as teammates. Leaning on meds alone can dull the deeper work that sparks real change. 💊🤝🛋️ @drwilliamsharp.bsky.social

Participated in a mock group therapy session in class today instead of observing. I was surprised by how comfortable I felt in the long silence. It makes me wonder about how therapy is more of an art than a science. It's not just about technique, it's also about presence. @drwilliamsharp.bsky.social

Reading Jan Hoffman's article "What the Therapist Thinks About You" reminds me that therapy is a two-way street. Your therapist isn't just listening—they're reflecting, noticing, and feeling. @drwilliamsharp.bsky.social

On Monday, I had my first seminar in Clinical Psychology and didn't expect to actually do a mock group therapy session. It was surprisingly fun and such a cool way to learn! 🧠🗣️
