In general play where there is so much going on the ref can miss something but for a penalty where it’s from a dead ball situation it should be left to the ref. Nobody intentionally sets out to slip and touch the ball twice. More often than not you’ll miss. Maybe a retake is the fairest outcome.

Very true. They need to make the lines thicker and measure from the feet, not shoulder or bum etc. only clear and obvious offsides should count.

To be honest I was watching with my son, I didn’t notice any issue but he said it straight away. IMO if the ref saw something and asked the VAR to confirm it then I have no problem. But if the ref who is standing closest didn’t see any issue the VAR shouldn’t overrule the ref in this situation.

It can’t be because the knockout round involves teams 9-24 and its seeded so 9 or 10 plays 23 or 24. Chances are that 9 or 10 wins. Extrapolate that logic out and 9-16 ‘should’ win - so the lowest seeds for the last 16 will then be 15 & 16. Add in the top 8 and it’s 1 or 2 Vs 15 or 16 etc #ucl

I have no idea but there are so many poor decisions or non-decisions by VAR in the EPL and not just involving LFC that it’s impossible to have any faith in them.
