These people are really not that smart. They're driven and utterly without morals. But most are dumb as rocks.

So, a small correction here. We've gone 16 years without commercial airline fatalities. Small plane crashes happen relatively often.

According to my cats, hot cocoa is free game if I leave it alone for more than 3 seconds. Cats don't believe in can't.

He got that money by exploiting the country and its people. Why would a parasite have respect for the hosts it's sucking blood from?

I know people like this probably never fully developed a proper Theory of Mind, but in what world is telling a potential employer that you don't need the job you're applying for, are applying for it on a whim, and will leave it just as easily considered a good tactic?

I mean, he was also a racist who approved of slavery and told people not to save for their old age and accept their lot in life.

Pick a position. Do you want to be pro slavery? The Bible will support you. Do you want to be anti-slavery? You can find parts of the Bible that support that, too. It's pointless to try and use the Bible to claim that yours is the true Christianity. Stop it.

Ignore or vilify the parts that go against them. Everything you say about "putting the Christ back in Christianity" conservative Christians say about you. You're two sides of the same coin. The Bible has only survived this long because people can interpret it however they want. (P2)

I'm getting sick of having to say this but.
Progressive Christians, your version of Christianity is no more valid than Conservative's version. You both interpret different parts of the Bible in different ways. You both focus on the parts that agree with your pre-existing ideals and (pt. 1)

If we're doing a mystery, it's gotta be Murder on the Orient Express. With Poirot being the human.

Sure, but it would be just for show. Most are independently wealthy and don't need their congressional wage. The ones that do rely on it are more than likely the ones actually doing their jobs.

Once again, people of no religion show just how much more moral they are.

I read the Bible. I was questioning beforehand, but reading the Bible and realizing how much didn't make sense, how much contradicted what I thought I knew about it, and the complete lack of good answers to my questions from other believers sealed the deal for me.

George of the Jungle has a special place.
December 9, 2024 at 4:51 AM
Kinda? If you look at the theology of people like Mother Theresa, you find the idea that suffering and pain bring people to God. Since helping someone to salvation is the greatest gift, it follows that a finite amount of torture is worth infinite happiness. Another reason I'm a former Christian.
