More reason to write your own damn code and not be so dependent on packages from others. Upgrade your practice and recapture the joy of owning the power to make computers do magical things.
“Celebrated are the minimal dependencies, the humble function that just quietly does the job, the code that doesn't need to be touched for years because it was done right once.” lucumr.pocoo.org/2025/1/24/bu...

My wife told me that the Village People that performed with Trump only contain one of the original members.

I am assuming it is the cop.

Preach! The best of them block ambient noise. I want the earbud equivalent of a sensory deprivation chamber. I relish the risk to my sanity if it protects me from real threats to my sanity.
Noise canceling headphones don’t cancel enough noise

Learning that the Village People chose to play for Trump at his inauguration has the same vibe as when you learned that Gary Glitter liked CSAM. It’s not like you were a fan but the music was part of so many social events.

Seeing all big-hearted people feeding and housing refugees from the Palisades fires reaffirms that there are still great people in the world.

What will it take to have that continue after the fires? There are plenty who could use help with food and shelter out there all the time.

Of all the words I considered I might want to ban on bsky, the last thing I would have expected to make list was "muppet". I understand your passion, but does everyone have to opine about the glorious potential future wherein every remake is done with Muppets?

My wife seems genuinely surprised that I will go see Wicked with her. It's like she's never seen me sob uncontrollably at a movie before or something...

Try not to pay too much attention to the content creators who talk about the latest and greatest in tech. You probably don't need the new thing, and if you need something better than what you have, you likely can exceed that need with something used. I rock a 2013 Macbook Pro w/8GB RAM just fine.

Never did the obligatory #twitterrefugee post, but I dumped it immediately after Elon took over. Y'all remind me of the early days of the other place and honestly a bit of Usenet news groups, where you could easily stumble onto things you never would have known interested you.

Computer people, am I going to have buyers remorse if I get into a Ryzen mini PC instead of following the herd and getting an M4 Mac Mini? I primarily do coding but want to get into some video editing and possibly streaming, and also love the privacy, ethos and the fiddliness of Linux...

Woke up to another disappointment this morning in the Tyson/Paul fight. Yet another victory for America snatched away by a decision made by rich people to enrich other rich people.

Must everything be a life lesson in why unfettered capitalism is the root of all our woes?

Struggling with the important questions...

Do I use the old skool white Mac keyboard from 2006 with my legacy Mac Pro from 2010, or the kick-ass Glorious branded mechanical keyboard that just provides so much better an experience...
