you might just have skipped a step where you sync your contacts. Fwiw I've sent them messages asking questions / reporting bugs before and they're very responsive

The optics of reserving names which could be used for phishing and for celebrities but not common slurs.... not great! Props to whoever sent the PR to actually do the bare basic task here, really disappointing how that was overlooked...

Their initial list of banned handles clearly didn't really include any slurs at all: https://github.com/bluesky-social/atproto/blob/4d1f8d32899b765e17af219329e2e3166b43e54d/packages/identifier/src/reserved.ts

From the code comment they ripped most of them from a "list of banned subdomain prefixes"

yep I had no idea this was related to either hackers or stuy but it was passed down at tjhsst

i went to tjhsst (pretty much DC area's stuyvesant) and this was also a typical saying there -- had no idea it was related to hackers

If there was a fork using "standard" JS array functions, with just a small bit of jq's syntactical niceties (pipes for map, []s for iteration, etc), maybe that would be easier to remember? jq today feels like its own unique standard library, I feel like it should mirror JS more given JSON's history.

I always forget the specifics of the DSL used by jq. It has a lot of advanced features, but whenever I'm trying to do anything moderately complex (say, building up a map data structure through iteration) the official docs feel really unhelpful.

if you're like me and need metrics to observe to facilitate your grafana addiction, home assistant can export Prometheus metrics

you have reached me, one who has strong opinions on the Prometheus Time Series Database (https://prometheus.io/). it is indeed better than the Graphite monitoring tool (https://graphiteapp.org/) and I'm glad you agree
Prometheus - Monitoring system & time series database
An open-source monitoring system with a dimensional data model, flexible query language, efficient time series database and modern alerting approach.

Yes, making it illegal for trans people to access medicine they need to stay alive is genocidal. Yes, making it illegal for trans people to use public restrooms is an attempt to push trans people out of public life, which is genocidal. We. Need. Help. Now.

one day, the late-90s idea of internet-powered smells will be reinvented for taste buds, and cookies will actually become the best thing about the internet

consider trying home delivery if you haven't tried it before. Not to imply that insurance / delivery companies -- say, those that rhyme with "igna" -- would be any more competent than this "rite aid"-sounding company, but it might be worth a shot. (The insulin has freezer packs/etc so it stays cold)
