Just to clarify, the implication is that usually there isn't enough bacteria in the water to infect people's skin, only when it's concentrated in the shellfish. Lots of skin infections suddenly implies there's now enough bacteria in the water to directly infect people.

Seems clear that on average most people get it from eating shellfish which concentrate it, this outbreak is special because it's mostly skin infections. Which has, like, all the implications.

People dot com probably should have had a person edit this article, they might have noticed how the article keeps saying most people get sick by eating seafood and then next paragraph says most people get sick through open wounds.
