Is Bluesky really all that? I never got Twitter, so I don't know what I'm comparing it to. Who's worth following? I seem to be following, & followed by, a lot of sex workers, which: fine, they need to get the word out, there's a living to make, but I was looking for political content. Suggestions?

The 3 AM guy got up early tonight - 11PM, NYC time - to tell me that he supports Joe Biden’s preemptive pardoning of anyone at risk of Trump’s vengeance; and he is sure that “if my thought dreams could be seen,” Trump would “probably put my head in a guillotine.” (Apologies to Bob Dylan.)

I'm at my local Brooklyn bookstore/café, buying a copy of *Middlemarch*, & the cashier guy says, "You telling me you don't already own this?", & the barista says, "You give up on Henry James?", and I was all, "I mean, I know I've been here before, but I am really feeling *seen* this afternoon. . ."

Biden was 150% right to pardon Hunter. Trump would’ve had him in jail for life for nothing. Do not engage MAGA in debate about this. Do not justify, do not apologize. Scroll on by.

What are you doing today to intervene against Trumpism? Against its corruption, its preaching of hatred? Me, I'm a petty, petty man, so I posted snarky comments on several of anti-trans Rep. Nancy Mace's X posts, calling her a bully and a liar and a disgrace. And those are her *best* qualities! You?

Dear Bluesky: I've been trying to post a photo - a snapshot, saved on my laptop deskstop - to Bluesky, but it keeps not appearing. What am I doing wrong? Anybody know? Thanks! John Weir

We have to keep telling MAGA they’re lying. Whenever they are. Which is often! That’s my Thanksgiving prayer. May we keep pointing out their lies. Let there be a record of our refutations. It will matter later! It matters now.

X is so poisonous. I try to see what it is about us that makes Trumpies feel attacked; but my god, are they contemptuous of difference. They find difference sinister, they want it erased. Yet I thrive on difference, it’s what I cherish. “The different ways in which we are all alike”: Gertrude Stein.

X is filled - my feed, anyway, is filled - with Trump fans sharing lies with each other, and heaping hatred and abuse on trans women. (Trans men don't appear to worry them.) It's overwhelming. I choose to stay there and clap back at their lies. Is that wrong of me? I can't believe what they believe.

Explain this: Trumpies have been posting anti-gay memes about Transportation Secy Pete Buttigieg for the past 4 years. So Trump nominates, as Treasury Secy, Scott Bessent, gay guy with a husband & 2 kids, like Pete. Will the Trumpies post anti-gay memes about him? Does God only hate Democratic f**s?

"Nancy Mace explains on a weekly basis that she was the victim of sexual assault... but she also breathlessly supports someone like Donald Trump, who is an adjudicated rapist and was credibly accused of sexual assault by 26 different women. So the cognitive dissonance at play here is incredible."

1/ Call the House Ethics Committee, demand that the Gaetz report be released, whether he's in Congress or not:

And call members of the House Ethics Committee and demand the report be released to the taxpayers who paid for it:

PS: *BUT*: re. Matt Gaetz: There is still a report that we, the taxpayers, paid for, because Representatives work for us, they are our proxies in Congress, that's what "representative democracy" means; and: we have the right to see the contents of the Gaetz report. Whether he's gonna be AG or not.
November 22, 2024 at 3:24 AM
Praise to all who called the House Ethics Committee to demand release of the report on Matt Gaetz. He has withdrawn from consideration to be DT's AG. We still need to see the report, though, as the Committee is doing the taxpayers' work in our stead, which is what "representative government" means.

Word is this House bill goes for a vote on Thursday 21 Nov:

H.R. 9495 would grant Donald Trump sole power to investigate and shut down any tax-exempt organization that criticizes him.

Call your Representatives, tell them to vote no! #s here:

The Ethics Committee did *not* come to agreement about releasing the Gaetz report, despite what their GOP Chair said. They are meeting again December 5th. In the meantime, call the Committee, demand the report's release:

"It has come to my attention that the chairman has since betrayed the process by disclosing our deliberations within moments after walking out of the committee, and he has implied that there was an agreement of the committee not to disclose the report."
'Betrayed': Ethics committee Democrat lashes out at GOP chair's remarks on Gaetz report

What're you doing to intervene against Trump's corrupt interregnum? I'm gonna call the House Ethics Committee again, demand the release of the Gaetz report. They met 20 Nov, reached no agreement; they meet again 5 Dec. GOP members of course want the report suppressed. Call again!

House Ethics Committee will keep Matt Gaetz report under wraps
Rep. Susan Wild said there was "no consensus" on the issue and the committee agreed to reconvene on Dec. 5.

What are you doing today to fight Trump’s corrupt interregnum? I’m reading about RFK, Jr., so as to have talking points at hand, in case I run into a Trumpy at the Mobil Mart!
RFK Jr. is a massive public health threat

The 3 AM guy refuses to be affected by his snarling nasty self-satisfying tweets and petty jabs.

He wants us fed up and on edge and off-center and unable to act.

He's nothing. Pfft. Debtor bankrupt sex offender.

Mourn, sure, but be strategic about it. Grieve with a purpose.

Fight Back.

What are you doing to resist Trump's corruption? I'm reading about farmworkers who are organizing to protect immigrant laborers. A clip:

"We need to recognize that we’re in a position of power, not weakness, because we hold the levers of the food system."

Don't surrender in advance! Fight back!

What're you doing tonight to intervene against the GOP's complicity in Trump's corruption? I'm keeping tabs on the recount for US Senator in PA. Started on the 18th, must be done by the 26th. The GOP is of course suing to stop it. Dem Casey v Repo McCormick, who's ahead by 17K votes. Breath held!

What have you done today to fight back against Trump's crimes and corruptions?

I called the House Ethics Committee and told the person who answered that I demand the release of the Committee's report on Matt Gaetz, Trump's nominee (!) for Attorney General.

You can too!
