Austin, Texas. Rice Grad.
Attorney; Board-certified in Civil Appellate. Huge USWNT fan. DS9 remains as the best Trek ever.
Charlie Kirk's murder had nothing to do with "left" politics. Antifa doesn't exist. The call for the National Guard is an excuse to impose Trump's will over states he doesn't like.

Nice.

Still that she, the heir to Pharaohs, had herself delivered in a bag (via Plutarch, the "carpet' appears to be myth) to the Roman commander took some chutzpah.

Fuck the Democratic leadership in Congress. I should put aside my grievances when they're collaborating with the enemy?

Why don't they do something meaningful to resist instead of caving to corporate interests?

There needs to be substantial change within the party before I just "move on."

I've tried to press on people that "No one cares if you don't vote. Elections are not about you."

Trump didn't attend the trial. He left the jury with nothing to go on but her uncontradicted testimony. The jury believed her. Case closed.

Further his points on appeal didn't challenge the sufficiency of the evidence. They complain about the judge excluding evidence to show bias.

He argues that there wasn't evidence to support the verdict. There was. It was Carroll's testimony, and the jury is the sole judge of her credibility.

It might have helped Trump's case had he testified to contradict her, but he didn't do that. In fact, he didn't even attend the trial.

What Constitutional issue did he raise at trial and preserve as error to give the Court even a chance at exercising jurisdiction over the case, provided he has a final decision from the highest court in New York?

The money's not there. He's borrowing like crazy and increasing the debt at a rate of roughly $6 billion per day.

No substance, just a bunch of vague fantasies punctuated with words like "good" and "better."

That's my fun day.

It's a fine point. Trump certainly received more votes than Harris, about 2.3 million more, but his 49.8% of the total wasn't a majority. Despite his claims, it wasn't a "landslide."

His total of 312 electoral votes was nothing special vs. the far more lopsided contests involving FDR, LBJ, et al.

Cleopatra's entrance into Rome is by itself worth the price of admission.

The chariot races in Ben Hur were real. Charlton Heston loved driving the four-horse chariots.

The filming took five weeks on a set outside Rome. I grew up in LA. I remember that after that epic sequence was filmed, the LA Times did a bug spread on all it took, including the thousands of "extras."

But she was smart, witty, and charming. She was her own foreign minister because she spoke several languages.

She broke from the Ptolmaic mold and learned much about Egypt on Egypt's terms.

Anyone who could charm J. Caesar to her bed and win the heart of Marc Anthony had to be something special.

Earl Campbell moved to Austin. 10-15 years ago I saw him from time to time. He needed help to get around.

I grew up in the 50s/60s. Human operators placed long distance phone calls. Cars were not very safe. There were no product safety standards. Everything was handled manually. Reel to reel tape recorders were a novelty. Vaccines were welcomed vs. terrible diseases. Area & zip codes didn't exist.

They dumped Biden and balked on immediately endorsing Harris. There wasn't time to pick anyone else and as VP she was in line to move up.

(Anyone who thinks there could have been a selection process and the creation of a new national campaign in only 93 days is dreaming.)

By something of a fluke, Katy Tur was assigned to Trump in 2015 by NBC.
When I read her book "Unbelievable" about the 2015-16 campaign, I noted her account of how one morning when Trump was passing by her and other reporters, he grabbed her and kissed her.
November 10, 2025 at 10:25 PM
Trump: "I better use some Tic Tacs just in case I start kissing her. You know I'm automatically attracted to beautiful... I just start kissing them. It's like a magnet. Just kiss. I don't even wait. And when you're a star they let you do it. . . . Grab them by the pussy. You can do anything."
