Additionally, even though some parties have been moving to the right, the opposition here hasn’t failed nearly as hard as the Democrats have in their complicity.

Well, no, not really. The picture that is painted in this article is pretty grim, and not without good reason, but the big difference between the US and The Netherlands is that the far-right doesn’t have an absolute majority here and parties are still required to build coalitions.
