I'm not sure what the film does with this original material, but I recommend this collection of short stories. If you think you don't like short stories, try these anyway. In total, they read like a novel - a time travel through New England.

So, Hofesh Shechter's Red Carpet --
Absolutely exquisite dancers. Truly extraordinary.
But an assaultingly loud score. Horrible "lighting" design that obscured about 80% of the performance. Very intriguing and nuanced choreographic vocabulary but 75 minutes of it got to feel rather self-indulgent.

The afternoon opened w/ a NEW work by a Modern Dance OG, Lucinda Childs (now 85 yrs old). I found it incredibly heartwarming to see the young dancers of the Gibney Company so lovingly perform that classic Childs vocabulary. A real treat.

Then, (from what little I could make out) some of the most technically spectacular dancing occured in a new Roderick George work. Unfortunately, much of it was obscured by the worse lighting in recent memory, replete w/ a strobe effects and red & blue flashes to suggest cop cars.

French Ambassador was in attendance for the Paris Opera Ballet stars. Not only did Hannah O'Neill & Hugo Marchand dance Afternoon of a Faun, an Angelin Preljocaj duet was a surprise addition to the program
