Good to hear that this is happening. It's going to take small, small steps to "return to normalcy". In a lot of ways we are living through the third "Red Scare" among many other big crises in American democracy. Most of us alive do not remember anything nearly so big except for the late '60s.

Most intimate? My stepmother, who I'd known nearly my entirely life, died of cancer.

Earliest? That I really recall as opposed to just heard about: Great-grandmother that I barely knew. That I heard about: I'm not 100% sure but it was either a grandfather who'd died decades before I was born or soldiers who died in Vietnam. This would have been quite young.

I don’t get the opposition to universal health care. It would be one of the best things to happen to business, especially small and medium sized ones, to get out of having to provide it. Out health system has consolidated towards being regional monopsonies anyway.
