I don’t know how to not be anxious and angry over the state of the world and it’s fucking with me. Here’s some recent happy making things:

• strawberry fig from my own tree
• sunsets on sunsets on sunsets
• Christmas dress I’m making that actually fits (!!!)

Okay some sci-comm person that I really like and respect just made a viral video about not being able to feel wet and like THAT’S MY FUN PARTY FACT, NOT THEIRS.

I could be great one day if not for imposter syndrome 😂

I start work next week & have trepidation due to my little Menty B during grad school. Being afraid for yourself OF yourself is rude.

But grateful for the chance to massage my brain again with biology things.

*takes breath* “autistic brains” are just as varied as non-“autistic brains” are. You’re going to find these traits across the spectrum of humanity, not just those who have autism. Can we not pretend to be gurus while spreading misinformation?
Fun fact... Autistic brains think in systems.

If we don't have a place to put something in the system we've set up in our brains, we won't remember it.

Which is why we have such a hard time retaining information that isn't directly relevant to us.

I’m not a parent, but these hip-hop kids songs are absolutely the best thing to happen.

I just saw a teacher telling kids to say “ight” like AAVE “aight” then continued “if you can say ight then you can say “flight”….”bright… “

Here for it.

i love scientists. sometimes you just cold email a zebra expert with a wild hypothetical question & hope you don't look dumb & then they write back to you WITHIN 10 MINUTES and say "great question" and validate your weird hypothesis with their much more powerful brain

what a freaking rush

My husband’s always shocked by how much I read because I have aphantasia.

And…I don’t know. I can understand words, bro.

I think we forget that homosapien evolution hasn’t caught up yet with burdens of the modern world and that’s terrifying.

I've had a few other former astronomers reach out to me lately about transitioning into data science/ML, and I decided to write about it.

This is my personal journey from astro to ocean, and the most useful steps I took along the way.
