Still, I'm doing my part to try and educate people about Tezuka. I just hope one day people will listen.

His masterpiece work Phoenix for example, started in 1954, and went until his death in 1989. Then you have things like him rebooting The Mysterious Underground men from 1948, as Adventure 21 in 1970.
More people should learn about him.

First one's by Junichi Nakahara, around 1941 I believe. The second is by Kouji Fukiya, 1925. The last 2 are works by Katsuji Matsumoto, around the mid 30s.
This has been your PSA, that manga and anime existed before Osamu Tezuka.

Previously he tried to make Swallowing the Earth, but felt he had trouble writing a good story, so went episodic here.
I think it turned out well enough, but wish we spent more time with the main cast.

I've actually got scripts for Astro Boy, Kimba, Black Jack etc covering all their adaptations (then i restricted my retrospective), but I haven't started the Phoenix one yet cause I just don't know how I'd approach it.
Even saying what Phoenix is "about" is a little tricky

All attempts are appreciated though. What kind of video were you thinking? I'm sure it'd be interesting to someone.

Dororo was one of Tezuka's first full attempts at mature content. He was initially excited to make it, but as it grew darker, he didn't like it's direction and lost his enthusiasm for the work. It also apparently wasn't popular at the time.

I'd actually argue the 1969 anime is closer to the original manga than the 2019 anime.
BTW, I'd recommend just reading the manga over either anime.

If I may ask, what were the speculation bits?
