I don't think I've ever had a month where I've rated every book this highly 🥰

Sunrise on the Reaping was devastating.

War of the Worlds was an instant favourite.

Return to The Dallergut Dream Department Store was like a big hug.

Just for the Summer was an emotional but fun romance.

I loved this book so much 🥰

Return to The Dallergut Dream Department Store is the 2nd book in the duology about a town hidden in our subconscious and a store that sells dreams.

Touching in parts, and wonderfully odd in others.

I'm sad there won't be more books set in this world.

My next read is Return to the Dallergut Dream Department Store.

Loved the first one and the covers of these books.

Finished! Absolutely loved The War of the Worlds. A definite 5⭐ read for me and I'm excited to dive in to H.G. Wells other work.

Absolutely demolishing The War of the Worlds - will finish part 2 tomorrow. Now off to sleep in my London flat while trying to not dream about martians and what they eat #BookSky💙📚🪐

Accidentally went into @waterstones.bsky.social and accidentally brought a book...

(Just not looking at the 30 unread ones on my shelf)

A mix of rereads and first times to get me through dreary Jan

Need to read a couple of non fantasy books as my brain is starting to blend them all

Side note- I give my ratings based on the vibes and if I've had fun in the story, not how well written it is

Book 5/50

The Songbird & the Heart of Stone by Carissa Broadbent

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Genre: Fantasy 📚🪐

Loved loved loved. The descent and underworld felt so developed and lived in. I also did not expect the ending which is always a nice surprise. Can't wait for the next part out in Aug.

Book 4/50

The Ashes and the Star Cursed King by Carissa Broadbent

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Genre: Fantasy 📚🪐

Lots of fun, little bit silly, great vibes. Also love a battle scene and was spoilt for those. I didn't realise there were other books in the series so I'm excited for the next duology.

Book 3/50

The Serpent and the Wings of Night by Carissa Broadbent

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Genre: Fantasy 📚🪐

This had been on my list for ages and I demolished it in one day. It's the first fantasy I've read about vampires. I'm also a sucker for books that have some kind of trial or competition.

My December wrap up ✨

Really struggling this month! I'm in a slump. Anyone got any short recommendations to pull me out of it?

Book 1&2 / 50

Heir of Fire and Queen of Shadows by Sarah J Mass

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐.5
Genre: Fantasy 📚🪐

Continuing my reread to kick off 2025. These are arguably the best books in the series. Doing this read alongside my friend who has never read them before which has been fun!

2024 wrapped! This was my biggest year yet for reading. Super proud of myself considering I only really picked up a book for enjoyment for the first time in 2020.

Now to think through my 2025 goal. I'm thinking less books but more pages! Has anyone set their targets yet?

Final book of the month (and year!). This has been on my list forever and I'm so glad I got to it this year. An amazing trilogy, full of complex characters, and an instant favorite for me

11/12: Funny Story by Emily Henry

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Genre: Romance 🌶️📚

A move away from what I've been reading lately, but needed a palette cleanser before finishing my final book of 2024. I really didn't enjoy her last book Happy Place but this was a fun read and I loved Daphne and Miles

"What’s the one dish you’d do anything to taste just one more time?"

A father daughter duo run a detective agency - recreating lost dishes from customers pasts. A sweet, and in parts, touching book.

9/12: The Wood at Midwinter by Susanna Clarke

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐

“A church is a sort of wood. A wood is a sort of church. They're the same thing really."
