I thought this was stunning. We chatted about how she chose these images. She had wanted to only show the abusers, but realized we’ve created such a false myth of the “genteel” south, that a photo of slave owners/patrols alone, wouldn’t make the point.

And, the rationales offered up by the AI search functions were weirdly convoluted, and frankly improbable. How is it that these large-scale search functions not only can’t find something that I could find in a few minutes, but offer up nonsensical elaborate theories instead?
