We have a whole year to get sorted but luckily we are renting. My daughter in laws parents moved up recently and they also had a few problems with selling. It took around 6 months I think. Good luck, where are you planning on going?

I've been warned about the midges!

Oh me too, I am so addicted to buying books that I am never going to read.

Can I ask why he was boycotted?
Good Omens is a great read and the series is definitely worth watching. The Sandman is also enjoyable to read as is Anansi Boys.

Some days I am Naive enough to think my dog hasn't shit. But I suppose, at least it's not bear shit. I think it would be on the news if he did.

of copy writing. So, I am looking for advice and tips on how to get into this area. All suggestions greatly appreciated and if anyone is happy to give me a trial or an apprentice kind of thing that would be great.

We also run a fab little community newsletter on behalf of our local council. I am currently studying for a Classical Studies degree with Creative Writing through the OU as well as doing a TEFL course. I would love to get into proof reading and editing and I am also looking into the scary world ....

Slowly is still moving forward and it will look lovely once finished. Some of the old properties in Scotland are amazing. I am thinking I need some extra work and just save like crazy to buy next year. Good luck. Have you seen the instagram @WhathaveWeDunoon?

I am wrapping This Boy up and sending it to my friends father. My friend used to teach at Bevington Primary School in West London and her father was actually there at the same time as Alan Johnson. I'm hoping he can recognise some people and places, and fingers crossed he enjoys it.

I haven't been to Hay on Wye but it is definitely on my bucket list, I shan't be taking a bike though lol.

I'd love a 24 hour bookshop, open at night for the insomniacs, beside the water so you can sit outside, drink wine or coffee and read and relax. Oh well, enough dreaming, I'd better get ready for work now 😂.

Nice to hear you are happy there, where did you move from? I think it is quite a desirable place to live, hence very few properties available. How is your house going?
June 5, 2024 at 7:56 AM
Thank you. I would personally love to open a bookshop myself, maybe one day I will get there but as you say, use it or lose it. Completely different conversation but it is sad so many people do not step into an actual bookshop and purchase online instead.

I'm hoping to move near to Helensburgh next August. My son and his family are already there, the inlaws are moving up to Maybole. I wanted to rent for a while before buying but it is so hard to to find rentals anywhere near Helensburgh.

Have you been to House For an Art Lover in Glasgow? It is very similar (I actually thought it was on first glance). I'll try to visit Hill House when I am in Helensburgh long enough. I'll be there in July but it's a short visit.

I still feel bad.

I spend far to much time in the Oxfam Book Shop on St Giles in Oxford, mainly for my study books but I have definitely accumulated many others. I feel bad that the authors don't get any money when we buy second hand books. I mean, I know it is better than the books ending up in landfill but....
