Gen X
I feel like the past 9ish years have been a social experiment that some of us failed miserably.
Beneath contempt
Abhorrent
Malignant
Repellant

Hillary was being generous with deplorable.

He knows his base won't care. Most of them already blame the girls.

It really blows when all of the "adults" in your life turn out to be shitty people. Like so shitty.
November 19, 2025 at 11:08 PM
Unfortunately for me, in my family they are.
November 19, 2025 at 10:20 PM
Trump being such a vulgarian has really opened up my vocabulary options around my older relatives.
November 19, 2025 at 10:15 PM
I'm pretty sure nobody is subsidizing my home ownership. In fact, my gigantic property tax bill would suggest that i'm actually subsidizing the community.
November 19, 2025 at 10:13 PM
A mansion is just a bigger home.
November 19, 2025 at 10:11 PM
I'm thinking of having a T-shirt made up with the picture of Trump dressed up like the Pope for the same reason. Can't call me out without calling him out and they're not gonna call him out. Making them choke on their own hypocrisy is priceless.

"Quiet, piggy" is going to be my go-to phrase now whenever I am talking to my maga relatives. They can hardly say it's disrespectful coming from me if they don't think it's disrespectful coming from him.

I will happily eat the meal and then find the nearest hotel
November 19, 2025 at 9:34 PM
I would have to pay at least a thousand dollars more a month for a third of the space. That's not a good financial decision. Most people live in apartments because they have to, not because they want to.
November 19, 2025 at 9:30 PM
There are certainly people who prefer living in an apartment over living in a house, and for good reasons. I work in both multifamily housing sales and new home construction sales. I meet both kinds of people. But overwhelmingly, most people would prefer to have their own home.
November 19, 2025 at 9:26 PM
I don't know who you're arguing with here because i'm not opposed to multifamily housing. No matter how much you want this country to become Japan or Finland, it's not going to be. Those people have lived their entire lives with a sense of civic responsibility that we don't have.
November 19, 2025 at 9:22 PM
And that is not to say that I am pooh poohing any sort of progress to that end. People who want to live in houses should be able to live in houses and people who want to live in apartments should be able to live in apartments.
November 19, 2025 at 9:20 PM
Plenty of other countries also have universal health care and free child care and paid leave and all kinds of nice things that we don't have. I have to live in this country at this moment, not an aspirational one that exists only in someone's imagination.
November 19, 2025 at 9:16 PM
But which of those things sounds more pleasant to you? Which of those things sounds easier? Have you ever walked a couple of blocks in subzero temperatures with two toddlers and a foot of snow on the ground? Have you ever tried to navigate giant snowbanks with toddlers and traffic?
November 19, 2025 at 9:13 PM
Putting my kids in and out of a car is not at all difficult. Have you ever tried to walk with two toddlers in a busy downtown area with snow and ice and traffic zooming by? Because i've done both of them and I can tell you which one is "easier".
November 19, 2025 at 9:02 PM
You can't get around in downtown minneapolis easily on foot for like a week after a snowstorm, but sure, i'm gonna scale 3 foot snowbanks on the corners of busy downtown intersections with a stroller and little kids because that's easy.
November 19, 2025 at 8:59 PM
Speaking as a mom, I took my kids everywhere with me. They came with me shopping. They came with me to vote. They came with me to get oil changes.Because they had to. That is the reality for most mothers, even if they have full time jobs.
November 19, 2025 at 8:57 PM
I didn't call for any sort of constraining anything. I understand homeownership is out of the realm of possibility for a lot of people.
But that doesn't mean that that is not what they really would like, or that there's anything wrong with that.
November 19, 2025 at 8:51 PM
You don't think bundling two toddlers into winter appropriate gear and then trying to slog through blocks of snow and ice only to have to turn around and trudge back sounds more difficult than opening a door in my house, climbing directly into my car and driving to a store?
November 19, 2025 at 8:48 PM
After twenty five years of paying a mortgage, I have close to a half a million dollars in equity.
After twenty five years of living in apartment, you will have nothing to show for it. The management company who owns your building will be rich as fuck but you have squat.
November 19, 2025 at 8:45 PM
There is a reason why apartment complexes are now built with party rooms and entertainment decks and observation decks and golf simulators and pet spas and craft rooms and dog runs. They're trying to replicate living in a house in a "not house".
November 19, 2025 at 8:43 PM
My house has doubled in value in the last twenty five years. That doesn't happen because nobody wants a house, that happens because everybody wants a house. Except for you apparently, who own a house but sneers at home ownership.
