Watching the replay of the Women’s Rugby World Cup. It makes me SO happy - the supporters, the little girls bursting with pride who are running in with each team captain, the opportunity… I’d have been a great rugby player, I’m sure of it, but I was at deportment classes… #womensrugby #1980s

Am I too late for #postboxsaturday? More like mailboxes actually… in regional Queensland - and an echidna in our garden…

I’ve been in Sydney doing something significant and in doing so, reminding myself what I love about being Australian: kookaburras, wattle, ferries, my friends, the light, the flora, the sparkling water… Even biting insects. I’m so lucky to have choices.

I’ve been off Bluesky for a while but have quite missed the goings on of @maffygirl.medsky.social and @an-leavy.bsky.social. And, of course, #postboxsaturday. So strange that social media has us developing relationships with total strangers who we’d love to meet one day…

Dipping my toe back into the pond that is Bluesky by sharing a photo of the first frog of the season, spotted tonight! I’m SO pleased we have this - and other reptiles from the week - in our garden. We’re so lucky.

Even the subtitles can’t understand the commentary! We need your flatmate… I do, however, understand the scare. Ugh.

Have just spent five days in Australia's capital, Canberra, and it has been exceptional. What a sensational city! There is so much to see and do here! We did a Women in Espionage tour today where I learned a lot (and channelled my inner Standish). #canberra

Oh dear, @bsky.app . The only words that make any sense to me are ‘Supreme Court’. Maybe I shouldn’t be here…

How did I miss seeing this structure among the ‘working man’s’ clubs, fabulous verandahs & Sturt desert peas when I was last in Broken Hill in 2023? A friend took it this week on her travels.

Speaking of politics, I found this recently about my great-grandad. I believe it’s from a time when Republicans were not as they are currently (1908). Also, that page layout is, um, different?

Here’s a #postboxsaturday contribution on behalf of my friend Jo. It’s at Runswick Bay, in Yorkshire, commemorating VE Day. Isn’t it fantastic?

Now, seriously. What happened to no political advertising 24 hours before an election? 🤬 #ausvotes

For #postboxsaturday, a box from Rio de Janeiro, shared with me by a friend who is there on holidays. I very much love the letter-carrying dove. Thanks Jane!

Oh Melbourne, stop! Dorothy, we’re not in Mullumbimby anymore…

Happy Saturday from here: Byron Bay. How fortunate I am to see this!

Just spent six days volunteering in the Incident Management Team of NSWSES in Mullumbimby and have learned SO much about emergency management & communications, teamwork & steep learning curves. I’m a bit tired. Also, please stop with the excessive rain! #cyclonealfred

I can’t get even begin to get my head around the psychological impact of what is happening in Lismore - and the Northern Rivers - right now. There are no words. #flooding

Happy 250th #postboxsaturday from Coogee (& Wylie’s Baths) earlier this week while in Sydney.

Text messages one receives while on the phone to a really helpful Medibank representative. Went looking but couldn’t see the Python for myself!

John, this was our letterbox this afternoon… 😂 no

Oops, I almost forgot #postboxsaturday! Here’s my offering of the local postie’s bike parked up in Alstonville, northern NSW. The postie was munching a pie for his lunch between mail drops

Anytime I see a snake story, I think of you @jdemet.bsky.social and know you’ll appreciate it too. This photo strikes terror - and awe - into my heart. The eastern brown is one of our deadliest snakes

Postie meets the postie. No fingers were bitten in the taking of this photograph!

For those cold-hearted cynics who consider handwritten letters a pointless exercise…
Thanks to a British friend who shared this with me today.

I painted the covers of some of my favourite books this year. There are many more but I was worn out after these… Trying not to let perfection destroy my creativity. Best of all, it was fun. #reading
