I block them at every pass, pihole at the router and adblock on the browsers. It's basically mandatory for privacy and safety online now.

All I will say is that once you learn the basics of one, you can hop around super easy. And its NOT hard, there are like 10-15 things that seem complicated and could be annoying, but thats...every OS. If you like to tinker its like heaven.

You could also start with Linux Mint, I originally used ubuntu as far back as like 2007 and liked it but they did some weird stuff. I used Mint for a while and its like OG ubuntu and really good but both are based on debian and I went straight to the roots.

Yea I feel that, I have windows on my workstation and have switched to debian on every other computer/server I have. Its clean and works flawlessly out the box. Most annoying thing is dealing with GPU drivers sometimes, but that was also an issue on win.
