One of the rare pieces I've done that's directly inspired by someone else's work.
This was inspired by a passage from the short story "Far Below" which in turn is a riff on "Pickman's Model".
My first gouache (and mixed media) piece in over a year.

From the murk of the fen emerged a figure, bundled up tight so no humanity was visible, spinning like a dervish, a bundle of burning herbs clasped in each hand, filling the air with smoke that was equal parts suffocating and intoxicating.
