5/5 I think the latter is a masterpiece and I think the former, INVADERS, like so much of what Hooper has accomplished in cinema, is at least partially, an unsung gem utterly undeserving of the dismissive criticism it receives.

4/5 It really works, IMO, on a deeply unsettling primal level of fear that speaks to young ones the same way that nearly the whole of Bob Balaban's low-key, dreamlike surrealism within the body of PARENTS does.
