Very grateful for the opportunity to serve on the NCCAT Board of Trustees as an appointee of Governor @roycoopernc.bsky.social from 2019-2025, working closely with Executive Director Brock Womble, Board Chair Terry Worrell and Deputy ED Karen Sumner (among many others). #nced

Very much appreciated participating in this Indivisible Guilford County NC panel last night with Supreme Court Justice Anita Earls, Joanna Likness Pendleton, Monica Walker and Belle Boggs discussing the current state of our courts and educational system and the path forward. #nced

This week my 7th grade students made uplifting notes to give to someone who is having a rough day.

These were some of my favorites. ❤️ #nced

Public education supporters:

Looking forward to participating in this timely Greensboro Indivisible panel discussion about the current political and educational landscape and what it means for our pursuit of fairness, equity, and opportunity in every school. #nced

Important reminder for educators as we start a new school year: Mispronouncing or adjusting students’ names sends a message—intentional or not—that they aren’t “normal” or worth your time/effort. It’s a foundation for a bad relationship... #nced

Both Majeed and Cunningham voted to hike energy costs for their constituents and slow down Duke’s transition to clean energy at a time when the impacts of climate change have never been more obvious.

Why? 💰💰 #ncpol

Yesterday Rep. Cunningham’s speech on the House floor suggesting we need to limit immigration from countries with inferior cultures was shocking and reprehensible.

This is not the representation Mecklenburg County deserves. #ncpol

You’ve got a real nice political career here. It’d be a shame if something happened to it… #ncpol

This is the easily predictable outcome of lawmakers encouraging private schools to put financial profits ahead of student needs.

It’s also a powerful argument for supporting public schools, where education is viewed as a human right, not a commodity. #nced

Enjoyed the Monday Teacher Appreciation event at the Governor's Mansion in Raleigh. DNCR Secretary Pamela Brewington Cashwell offered comments as did Superintendent Mo Green and Lt. Governor Rachel Hunt. #nced #ncpol

With media conglomerates now bending the knee to Donald Trump, the future of news is independent media, and I don’t see anyone doing it better than ProPublica.

I could not possibly love Superintendent Mo Green’s response to DOE threatening states on “illegal DEI practices” any more.

We are fortunate to have an individual with unshakeable conviction about what is best for children leading North Carolina’s k-12 education at this moment. #nced #ncpol

Anybody who has tried to get an appointment at the North Carolina DMV recently can tell you that firing people and cutting budgets is the opposite of what our state government needs. #ncpol

It was wonderful to be in a room full of people who love public schools and want to see them be the best they can be as well as a leader of integrity who genuinely wants to listen and support us.

Mo spent an hour and a half listening to educators, parents and students celebrating the good of our public schools, naming struggles that we are currently facing, and offering solutions and big ideas for taking our system to the next level.

He wants educators, parents and all education stakeholders to be a part of making that vision a reality, using our input to assist in crafting a strategic plan together with the State Board of Education (State Board Chair Eric Davis was in attendance).
