Trying a new recipe, lemon pudding cakes! My partner’s coworkers keep passing us amazing lemons and I’m like, what do I make?? This apparently.

Another set of mapcrunch studies. Been having fun doing a few of these each day. Trying to keep them quick and focus on color palette experimentation.

Doing some mapcrunch studies today and playing with different lighting ideas. Also don’t want to go back to work tomorrow. Only paint, no work!

I recently discovered Jeff the land shark and fell in love. Here’s an iPhone-esque wallpaper crop of some fanart. Enjoy!

Limited palette study from map crunch. Ultramarine blue light, carmine and Naples yellow. Really liked using Naples yellow, hadn’t explored that much before.

Been going through my travel photos for painting inspiration. I'm noticing a tendancy towards tight compositions in my photography. That's all well and good, but not as helpful when wanting to use for reference! Note to self: take two photos and help future us out!

Still frame studies from two films (Nomadland and Nope). Really helping in terms of exploring color mixing and value contrast. Nope was interesting in that everything seemed to have a very subtle green tint.

Getting back into painting and learning gouache. Has been challenging, but slowly feeling more comfortable.

Painting I did for a class demo a few years ago. I do love spooky season, but have not painted anything spooky recently!

Watercolor creature sketch from a few years ago. Recall just having fun with blending forms and seeing what shapes would reveal themselves.

Currently focused on learning gouache, but bit of a visual reminder of how fun this was to explore!

If you've ever wondered what makes a bear in fact "chonky", let me share my research! This study was peer reviewed by folks who said things like, "oh so chonky!"

Getting back into painting for myself by doing a crowdfunded project with a friend. Enjoying painting the fat bears of Katmai National Park!
