Big news!! I now an Assistant Professor of Working Lands and Restoration in the Environmental Science, Policy and Management Dept at UC Berkeley!! I'll miss my time in Humboldt but excited for my new journey and grateful for all the support from everyone over the years!

The Western Lily (Lilium occidentale) is a beautiful crimson flower that towers up at 5-6 ft tall out at the Tabe Bluff prairies in Humboldt County. Its federally and California state endangered because lots of its important coastal prairie habitat has been lost!

Bromus carinatus (now Bromus sitchensis) or California Brome is a common native perennial bunchgrass, important forage, and a quick and resilient species for erosion control and recovery. It has beautiful spikelets and seeds that can sometimes become purplish. Look at the beautiful grass flowers!!
