West told me they are trying to get Shaw to a doctor to treat the infection. But they need the court's permission to do that. Next day in court is tomorrow.

Great data here, Lev. Is the modern game, faster pace, mileage/minutes, the main culprit here?

As for a verdict. It could come as early as next week or by Dec.20 at the latest. I’ll hopefully be speaking with West to get a trial update and Shaw directly. West also launched a GoFundMe to help cover legal costs. They've raised $71k so far: www.gofundme.com/f/save-jarre...

West compared Shaw's case to Brittney Griner's ordeal in Russia. But says Shaw is in a more precarious situ given there's no public pressure, media coverage, no star power support, no geopolitical leverage. He's left to fend for himself and hope he can navigate through Indonesia's drug laws.

Shaw also didn’t push his condition on the Hawks either. He felt he could be seen as a liability and not get game time. That's a real thing that other imports have publicly talked about. Masking injuries so they can still play, get paid, build a life overseas.

This bleeds into another issue hoopers face playing overseas: a lot of clubs don’t do proper physicals or health assessments on imports. The Hawks, as I understand it, didn't check what Shaw needs to manage Crohn's.

Shaw’s basketball team, the Tangerang Hawks, cut him immediately without a verdict. No presumption of innocence. The Indonesian Basketball League banned him for life. West says this is how Indonesia responds to even the optics of drug cases. Much different mindset than Western countries.

His lawyer, Donte West, travelled 25 hrs from Kansas to Jakarta to help Shaw. He is acting independently. He felt for Shaw, that he had no support networks. West is trying to bring U.S. medical experts to explain Crohn’s disease and why THC is used to treat it. Not sure if this gets approved.

What makes this part complicated is prosecutors weighed the entire gummy package – sugar, gelatin etc – instead of the THC itself. This pushed the drug quantity into capital-punishment areas. Can you even extract the THC? I'm not sure. Does that kind of forensics exist in Indonesia? Not sure.

Jarred Shaw is your classic journeyman big who’s played all over the world for 19 teams. He’s been in pre-trial detention since May. He was sent a package of 132 THC gummies worth about $400. Mailed straight to his apartment. He's been charged with distributing (i.e. trafficking).

So here's a thread on the Jarred Shaw case. He’s an American pro basketball player that could face life in prison or death by firing squad in Indonesia over THC gummies he uses to manage his Crohn’s disease.

Here’s what I learned after speaking with his lawyer Donte West yesterday 👇
