I think a lot of people are genuinely mad about the “he leaked a minor’s medical records” bullshit rumor, and few people care to check if he actually did that. Yes, they’re mad about other stuff, too.

If you enjoyed this, you might like the six-episode 2005 series Nathan Barley, written by Chris Morris (Four Lions) and Charlie Brooker (Black Mirror). It's very funny and somewhat predictive of where internet culture would send us.

I agree it’s not acceptable and I agree it doesn’t matter if it’s the worst site. No reason for Colin to try to make the claim that it’s the worst site if it doesn’t matter.

I don’t think people want a circus, they just didn’t know that you two had resolved the public fight you’d had on Twitter years back. Glad to hear you’ve wrapped that up.

Good to hear

The people openly praising the murderer are saying things that are bad enough. It's easy to just quote them on the things they're saying, rather than trying to extrapolate from their statements to make it sound like they're saying something even worse.

The study isn't about endorsing the *principle* of murdering one political enemy, it's about endorsing the murder of one political enemy. If the study included a round where they just collected statements like "we should do this to everyone right of center", sure, I'd agree with you.

Yeah, that’s just absolutist, black and white thinking. Supporting the UHC CEO murder isn’t good, but it definitely is not the same as endorsing the murder of all your enemies.

I’ll caveat this by saying I don’t know what “scale 0-6” means in this context, and I don’t have time to dig into it on my lunch break. Would be interested to know if this study makes any sense so maybe I’ll check it out later.

Yeah, he’s not even linking the source lol. Here it is, in case you’re interested: networkcontagion.us/reports/12-1...

He stupidly cropped out the text explaining the graph. Why? Presumably so “2.65” could be taken to mean something larger than “percentage of users”

I don’t like this platform much and I’ve seen a lot of death threats here, but the graph just shows it’s the most supportive of the murder of the UHC CEO. Probably not a good idea to make the broader “pro-violence” claim unless there’s other data that supports that conclusion.
December 26, 2024 at 7:13 PM
It’s an interesting graph (if accurate) but yeah, he’s overstating the case. Why not just say that Bluesky users praised the murder of the CEO more than those of any other platform? Never understand the need for these guys to exaggerate things that are already interesting.

I mean if she’s gonna whack off, could she at least do it in private?

Narcissism. It’s about narcissism and how narcissism is, when you think about it, good.

Saw a friend post that she was boycotting Amazon. Two sentences later she explained it was because they stopped unlimited 2-day shipping for Prime members.

I think this is a joke, Matt.
