Politics aside, he was genuinely thoughtful. I was organising an event in mid 2000s, he was Deputy PM and guest of honour. His office messed me around over the date/him attending. I got cross. He personally called me up, apologised profusely and asked ‘what can I do to make this right?’
And he did.
And he did.
