And overall, I was actually surprised at how much of it I didn’t really like. But that’s fine. I respected him and what he was doing. I’m grateful that I was able to do this. A man with true style.

Reading his biography during the listen really enhanced the experience. And even if you never listen to a Miles album it is worth reading. His voice is so authentic

I was also fond of his late era work which was softer and more personable

His 50s and early 60s era are what I think of when I think of jazz. I especially loved this Miles Davis and the Modern Jazz Giants album which really delivers on its promise.

His post-1967 era where he abandoned bop and invented fusion was a difficult listen for me, though it was his best selling era. However, it did produce my absolute favorite Miles Davis album, “In A Silent Way”

I remember last years list. So often I’m listening and it’s one little breakthrough that separates any old song from a song that indicates something greater. I’ll look forward to next year’s list and think of this when I hear a moment
