Dude, you weren't elected to be a state legislator. I have a lot of faith in Maine, too. But do you honestly believe the government in states like Texas and Alabama and Tennessee won't do absolutely everything in their power to disenfranchise those who don't agree with the people who are in power?

We absolutely SHOULD ditch COBOL. Recoding government systems has a ton of benefits.
But I don’t care HOW good of a coder you are – rushing a job like this will lead to years of severe damage that will cost taxpayers a lot of money to fix.
There’s a right way and a wrong way.
