Pursuing a vehicle in the middle of rush hour needlessly caused the death of a cherished school teacher. She and our communities deserve better.

If a GoFundMe is set up to support her family, I will be sure to update this post.

Her community described her as “a beloved member of our school family” and stated that “her loss has affected us deeply.” Dr. Davis’s death is directly tied to the reckless violence ICE continues to create in marginalized communities that they target, murder, brutalize & kidnap.

These senseless murders by Seattle police won't stop until we have actual accountability that goes beyond slaps on the wrist.

His killers, Willard Jared and Cassidy Butler were suspended for less than a week for murdering Hayden after shooting him 9 seconds after encountering him.

Derek Hayden should still be alive today.

I'm doing this for those who are forced to live with the horrible realities that police brutality creates because we deserve and must fight for better. Even if we feel we are a voice of one.

It makes me feel alone in this fight but I'm not doing this for them, I'm doing this for my brother, Herbert who was murdered by Seattle police and for all those who have been brutalized by SPD both before and after he was killed.

What's also heartbreaking is seeing community organizations talk about resources in relation to policing as well but leaving out victims of police violence from those conversations.

And instead of doing something about police accountability, creating proclamations about our suffering as the police continue to brutalize and murder us with impunity.

Yes, I was excited about Wilson winning, now I feel like I’m slowly drowning.

All while putting out yet another proclamation directly referencing the harm policing does in Black communities.

It feels like a deliberate attempt to push us back into silence both by the mayor and the city council regarding police brutality.

For those who feel unheard, unseen, and unsupported.

For whom the community has failed and whose trauma became a costume for profit and upward mobility.

For Herbert.

Because the city and county still refuse to acknowledge the harm their policies and lack of resources caused my family and so many like mine for decades.
