I feel like the complete opposite, I'll sit down and open a word document and then suddenly it's 4 hours later and 1200 words have materialized on the pages in front of me

In that case, I would recommend using and learning Dvorak, or similar layouts like Workman or Colemak, since the keys are re-ordered to prioritize simple movements.

I personally use Qwerty since that's what I learned, but you can definitely achieve higher words per minute with Dvorak, along with less finger strain.

If you would like some reccomendations from a software engineering student:

Qwerty or qwertz are the most common and what you find on most keyboards and much easier to set up. Good for compatibility.

Dvorak is definitely faster but requires specific settings to be changed on any computer you use.

I love the trumpet! I played it for seven years and always had more fun when I played the harmonies and countermelodies. I like when pieces have both parts for trumpet and cornet, to show off the strengths of the two similar but still different sounding instruments!
