Love this. Let's try it in congress. My guess: witches band together, claim victimhood, say ACTUALLY it's perfectly fine to turn people into newts or roast lost children, they had it coming anyway, why are you soft on crime, do you HATE AMERICA? Then they all cash their checks from PAGANPAC.

Came here specifically to say "Amazon is a shitshow and I go out of my way to avoid giving their Chief Plutocrat more money ... but Kindle Unlimited is where I discovered Marko Kloos." He's a HUGE fave now -- I've read the whole Frontlines series multiple times, ditto the Palladium Wars series. A+.

Oh man I forgot all about that. Now I recall being SO excited about it, and then seeing the reviews ... damn if Ridley Scott isn't a mixed bag. Like his whole oeuvre is "who put Reese's Pieces in with the Skittles" except some of the Reese's Pieces are actually candy-coated dog kibble.

Oh man we just watched the film adaptation of Andromeda Strain a few months ago (I'd seen it 2-3x before, bf had not) and it is both MAGNIFICENT and HORRIBLE. I want to redo this whole house to look like that lab.

Burned into my brain : a character in the novel "Timeline" who has (spoiler) (?) traveled to Olden Tymes and has to dress like a medieval peasant and complains "my hose is baggy." Same character (author avatar?) also distressed that "this damn horse is trying to bite me."

Starting to think Americans are so superstitious they literally worship luck, idolize lucky people, and enjoy punishing the unlucky -- presumably in the hope that luck will smile upon *them* next. Imagine if we could order things so that we were all safe enough to not have to live the Casino Ethos.

OH MY GOD I have never audiobooked and did not know she did that but I have been mildly obsessed with her since she played Martha's mom on Doctor Who. In my Imaginary Safe Space, she and Shohreh Aghdashloo and Stockard Channing are my badass aunts.

2am Walgreens, high as balls (wow you guys: Demerol). Bought alllllllllllllllllll the makeup while waiting on prescription, out of sheer cussedness + drugs. Whole left arm = bandages and burn cream for weeks. Still have a scar on inside of left elbow, which has texture exactly like raw poultry skin.
