Covenant is a fantastic #boardgame. It's an exercise in stretching all 12 of your actions to the very limit, pulling out as many combos as you can.

When you manage to trip three or four levers in a row, you feel so clever.

This could be game of the Year stuff.

Learning Covenant right now, and oh boy am I gonna need some coffee for this one.

First time play of Flatiron, tonight.

Had more meat on the bone than I initially thought, but we both got into the rhythm pretty quickly. I would say this is a great intro to mid-weight #boardgames for those looking to step up from gateway games.

I certainly enjoyed it.

Covenant is a chunky beast.

See the box lift for verification.

I don't know why, but I like this old medieval art style employed by Euros. Board games like Troyes (pictured), Orleans and The King is Dead just scratch my art satisfaction membrane.

Played Mandala today boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/26...

Cut throat as always.

So I've finally played Calimala a few times (4p) and have to say it's an intensely clever game of area majority.

First game, obviously, started out rather meekly, but ramped up intensity by the midway point.

Second game, from the get go, was all schemes and calculations into the future. Lovely.

If you would have told me the Calimala retail version was a deluxe copy, I would believe you. What a great production by Alley Cat Games.

This was excellent! Definitely a game you must know the ins and outs.

Some #boardgames to be played today.

Have a few rounds of Patchwork on the docket.

Maybe get a first try of Flatiron later on.

Feels like a lazy Sunday to be honest.

Played World Wonders today boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/36...

From someone who loves Patchwork, this was right up my alley!

Shackleton Base was pretty good!

I would say it needs a second and third play to maximize each turn. It's one of those games where every step can have good or bad implications later in the round.

Bridge City Poker has become the go-to for that "let's finish off the night" card game. Such a breezy time.

Had to test out the new @allplay.bsky.social playmat as well. It's a dense mat. It won't budge. Pretty stoked about it.

Played Tacta Promotional Edition today boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/44...

Nifty game once you realize it's about negating other's options to cover your dots versus covering theirs as well.

Played Skate Summer today boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/35...

This was a pleasant surprise! Everything fits so well together. A cohesive push your luck game with so many things that add on tour strategy. People should give it a shot.

Had a good night of gaming. Cascadia, Bitoku and Sea Salt & Paper.

Cascadia starts slow and the ramps up the mental gymnastics in less than 20 minutes.

Bitoku was a 3p session and it was a nail biting finish once all the points were counted.

Sea Salt & Paper is always fantastic.

Always amazing.

Another successful night of Bridge City Poker.

Such a clever trick-taking card game. Today I managed to turn around a 12 point defecit in the final round for the win.

Don't you hate it when you've played a game so horribly that you know where you screwed up and promised to rectify the issue and you play the game again only to repeat the same mistakes?

Yeah, I did that with Endeavor: Deep Sea.

Still a fun time.

I have the Rio Grande Games version. It's one of my favorite abstracts.

Had a great time with a 2p session of Origins:First Builders. It starts with a low mental load but once you gain workers, evaluate encounter sites and the strength of each worker, it can get heady.

I love it.

Will try for a higher player count tonight.

I always appreciate the small effort to write a personalized thank you note from publishers.

This one comes from Portland Game Collective. Been really itching for a trick-taker and Bridge City Poker seems like a perfect fit for me. Can't wait to get it to the table.

This #cdfriday has The Cribs second album, The New Fellas, playing on rotation today.

Okay, from my experience playing these:

Mandala, Carcassonne, Patchwork, Sea Salt & Paper, Dominion, Arboretum, Hanamikoji and Jaipur are great light games with interesting decisions.

Midweight to heavy, Crown of Emara, Castles of Burgundy, Teotihuacan, Empires of the North and Great Western Trail
