Yeah even though there’s been an improved understanding of what ASD entails, there’s still this weird impression that people have of it that doesn’t seem to go away. I feel that it plays a huge role in this self doubt and inner conflict. Which is annoying.

Still, I was left very confused about myself for the longest time. Now that I know, most of the uncertainty has gone away. Though every once in a while, the imposter syndrome kicks in, and I’m left doubting whether I actually have ASD or if I’m being delusional.

I have no resentment towards my parents. I understand why they would keep this fact from me. Stigma and misinformation around disabilities in general was huge, especially around autism. And having witnessed the bullying other disabled kids face, why would they add ableism on top of racism.
