That I've had my first 'real' (i.e. adult) experience of major grief this year, and subsequently had some very dark periods, means the story and its themes feel even more timely. Kismet... Fateful...

We shall see...

For now I'll enjoy Grace's story, and see if it helps me along too...

The increased dosage of antidepressants will likely take a lot of credit too, I'll admit, but there's something about the way Matt Haig writes that feels kindred and compassionate and understanding when it comes to mental health...

Much how I felt The Midnight Library did. I don't even know what my questions are, but I have a strange... belief seems too strong a word but hope seems too vague... sense that I'm reading this now, just at the time I need to, to learn something that will propel me forward...

I'm only about one quarter of the way through, and this beautiful quote jumped out at me. I started reading The Life Impossible simply because I adored The Midnight Library, but the further I get, the more I've begun to realise how I'm longing for guidance through my currently poor mental health...

All in all, it's a far more enjoyable learning experience than I ever had in history clasdes at school.

In the meantime, I'm heading to Libby to continue learning about ancient Greek myths thanks to Heroes by @stephenfry.bsky.social

I thoroughly enjoyed Mythos a few months back and recently adored Kaos on Netflix, and seriously lament S2 being cancelled. 😭

All in all, there was only one real flaw with What A Way To Go: while it was addictive enough for me to finish it within a couple of days, I never truly felt attached to or invested in any of the characters. It does however mean that it's quite a light-hearted read, which can be nice sometimes.

I'd also like to see the Wistern children suffer through a bit more retribution, especially Clara who I foresee ending up living a life of luxury as part of a Kardashian-style posse 🤢 and learning nothing from her parents demises. But I guess the justice of the afterlife will always be waiting...

My favourite element of the book is (spoiler alert) knowing that Anthony's individual 'hell' is completely perfect for him, as is the idea of Olivia waiting months in grey limboland for Charles. Maybe she could have done with a bit of a longer wait, so she can 'suffer' bland mediocrity more...

I'd sure as hell like more money, but I never want to feel like I'm constantly chasing my tail to be bigger and better than anyone else. I'd much prefer a poor life that is rich in connections with my genuine friends and family, not people who'd disappear at the first sign of trouble. I digress...

... generally at the expense of the stereotypical spoilt rich parts of society. It touched upon the sad truth that money can buy so much more than luxury goods and lifestyles in the form of influence and connections, and also how precarious living like that can be...

When I saw What A Way To Go I had hoped it would be a sequel to HTKYF, but my disappointment at that not being the case was quickly surpassed by the enjoyment of reading about the Wistern family, plus the Sleuth. The story was a very fun "whodunnit" that provided a lot of entertainment and humour...

The final part of How To Kill Your Family was a little bit disappointing after such an epic story; I just didn't feel the attachment to the male character (whose name I've forgotten) as I did to Grace who I adored despite her psychotic ways. I still very much hope for a sequel...

I must start by saying I've been eagerly anticipating a new book from Bella Mackie ever since I finished How To Kill Your Family. Up until the last part of the book where the character viewpoint shifted, I was 1 million per cent invested in the story, picturing Jodie Comer in a screen adaptation...

My daughter and I decided to bring some butterfly eggs indoors and got to witness the transformation from tiny voracious caterpillars to beautiful cabbage white butterflies. I'd love to do the same for a more endangered species of butterfly, if it's possible. I'll have to do some research.
