I've been working on something cool for the last 8-9 months. I'm getting close to launching on Android!

I'm hoping to have a pre-release to plug soon but it's been a really hard push with a lot more to come!

Maybe I should create a playable demo.. I'm not sure if folks would enjoy being involved in that way, but it's hard to know if it's fun as the only one testing so far.

Has anyone else had luck with pre-alpha testing?

Im close to the point where my prototype for No One's Home either succeeds or fails.

It has required a lot of work to just complete the game loop, so hopefully it will cross the finish line.

I certainly don't want to force a game to be fun. It should inherently be fun.

I'm really happy with all of the feedback I've received from Setzi! Mostly friends and family as you'd expect, but everyone who's tried it has held my phone several minutes past me asking for it back!

That's always a good sign for #gamedev

If you could believe it- "No One's Home" is the first game I've worked in where I've actually done some sound engineering.. it's been difficult but rewarding working on some #gamedev skills I haven't done in a project before.

What's your least exercised game dev muscle?

Today I added basic sounds, updated the movement system & added controller support.

I added an object outline shader when the player is near an interactable object.

I also had some fun with post processing, though this feels overkill..

What do you think?

Okay I think that 16-bit art will fit the style that I'm going for.. plus it's just easier to make than 32-bit.. especially for a beginner.

What do you think? Is this too simple? These colors and designs are not final, but I think it aligns more to my vision.

"No One's Home": Today I created more temp assets to better understand the flow of interactions around the room.

For the door+phone, you'll have to successfully manage a convo in order to not drain your energy.

Yes, this is a survival game about being an introvert.

I love being at this stage of #gamedev. Programming mechanic systems, making code extremely scalable for what will likely be a very small scale game.. and lots and lots of over-engineering.

Are we all scared of getting to the stage where we need to make things look good?

"No One's Home" - Demo 01 - Action System.

I've been working on creating a scalable and dynamic Action system; that prompts the player to complete an action.

The scheduling & handling of actions is done. I just need to work on additional UI feedback for the player.

Day 1 of developing "No One's Home".

"No One's Home" is a small-world survival game where the goal is to protect an introvert from oncoming social interaction.

So far just working on character movement, and the basis for a dialog system to handle events, etc.

For those other #gamedev hobbyists, do you put ads on your game?

I personally hate in-your-face ads, and I really only do this as a hobby. But is there a known correlation between ad-free and user acquisition? Or are they so commonplace that I'm missing out by not.

To all my fellow #unity devs on here.. how do I create a UI constraints to match multiple devices aspect ratios? Simple anchor positions relative to the canvas don't seem to work..
