Is there a “Software Architecture” starter pack?

Path of Exile… As expected login servers are down. Is somebody actually playing after 4 hours from “Early Release”?

Situation
Task
Action
Result

STAR technique. Now replace “Task” with “Challenge” and you have SCAR, which not only sounds cool, but lets you say in a husky voice: “I need real leaders with SCARs in my team”.

And this term reflects the reality of work much better too.

“Show me your SCARs…”

Hot from publishing! My weekend read. Would gladly tag Martin Dilger, but I think he’s not on BlueSky yet.

Called Microsoft today, got a voice bot who could not switch to English and did not recognize “Azure” as a Microsoft product. Hung up on me afterwards. AI will take our jobs… right.

Will the corporate communication become a game of both parties using ChatGPT to artificially make the language more “corporate”?

- ChatGPT, tell Bob his plan is shit, but make it sound professional…
- Hey ChatGPT, Fred sent me this wall of text, what he means?
- That your plan is shit

Missed that window of opportunity to buy PS5 30th anniversary controller, while it was in stock in Switzerland. Now they are re-sold for 120-150 bucks. Is it still in stock anywhere in Europe?

Training for a marathon in Autumn. So far this is as much as I can run in one go.

Time for a small upgrade. Installing separate SSDs to have dedicated hard drives for AI experiments. Still not sure which flavor of Linux to install as the host system.

Our great purpose as human beings is to multiply the knowledge and pass it on to the next generation. I’m always happy when my tutorial, video or workshop helped somebody.

Therefore it is not clear to me why people get upset about their posts being used to train LLMs.

Bluesky is giving that “old internet” vibe. I was still in school in 98 when I got my internet access (I had FIDO for some time before). There was no attention seeking or propaganda online. Just a bunch of lucky guys who were talking, playing DnD over email and dreaming big.

This month’s Humble Bundle is pure gold

Adding this to my ML library. I’m wondering if there are such things as open lectures in Unis is Switzerland?
My deep learning course at the University of Geneva is available on-line. 1000+ slides, ~20h of screen-casts. Full of examples in PyTorch.

And my "Little Book of Deep Learning" is available as a phone-formatted pdf (nearing 700k downloads!)

Any good crafting-survival games out there?

Valheim - great, playing it again
Enshrouded - lacks good combat and variety
Nightingale - too early access, great potential, but lacks variety
Voidtrain - haven’t tried yet, looks interesting…

What else am I missing?

I think git “commit” hooks are mostly evil. Spirit of git is to commit whenever you feel like committing (push is another story).

Annoying when you can’t put current work on pause and switch to another branch just because “tslint” is not happy.

Morale - don’t overuse commit hooks.

So this is definitely better than Twitter. Pardon, “X”. After few days of reading and interacting with people my stream is surprisingly fitting my actual interest. With occasional left-wing posts, but either way they are easier to ignore than on X. I come here for tech, games, books and good vibes 🙂
