The colonization plan was a rather desperate attempt to try to end slavery without sparking a civil war. I am confident that, had Lincoln survived, he would have pushed Reconstruction harder than Johnson did and worked to incorporate freed slaves into the union.

And, to be fair, Lincoln did say some things that, by today’s standards, would be quite racist. That doesn’t mean he’d be okay with a minority of white people trying to take away rights others already have.

Oh, sure, the same way they do with MLK. “Lincoln was against slavery, but we don’t have slavery anymore. Surely he’d agree with us that the anti racists have gone too far.”

It came up in one of the Federalist papers, and the writer said "well, then he'd be impeached." But with the GOP congress completely subservient to the president, that check collapses.

Trump is following Bush 2nd term. Epstein files is his Hurricane Katrina, the thing the finally makes people start to turn. Maybe, I could be wrong about all this.

I don’t necessarily care if adults choose to put themselves at risk for fame and wealth, but I do have some hope that allowing kids whose brains are still developing will eventually become taboo, if not banned.

Just the fact that it’s about the Witch of the West suggested the movie was the main inspiration. She’s a very minor character in the original novel. Also her skin isn’t green.

I'm saying that Maguire tiptoed close to the line of the movie while not quite crossing it. But, again, this is second hand, I haven't read it myself.
