(Thank you for bearing with my personal axe grinding project. Yes mostly agree...)

I think we all agree on the necessity of lower consumption and regen grazing should not suck air out of that for sure. I guess I just wish there were a handshake that's regen grazers admitting lower consumption and enviros appreciate land work.

Yeah, I'm not sure I know what happens most of the time. The idea that rewilding rangelands vs *optimal* domestic grazing is going to be a major climate win...beggars belief for me. To me rewilding is a question of values / culture and should be treated as such.

That's very fair. I'd add that grazing provides an economic incentive for active restoration, but agree regen grazing is not some magic climate solution.

Since I'm already going on, this is personally why I think it obscures more than it tells to refer to animal ag as "using" 2/3rds of Earth. This number is big *because* so much livestock ag is extremely extensive and non-impactful. It's a measurement of extent of Earth's dry / cold places.

To me all the carbon and biodiversity juice is in land conversion. Totally agree that consumption needs to fall for that reason.

Here's the thing about East Africa. I find it fascinating that cattle and wildlife facilitate each other:
