I'm guessing they got a good deal on bulk pulled chips, when I was hand producing repros before you could just buy some ready to flash cart that's what I would do. Was cheaper to just order in bulk from eBay, never had issues cuz it's how the chips are meant to be

They're reflashable memory, as long as you verify they wipe and flash fine it's perfectly sane to use used chips

Yeah they're just 128M chips, brand doesn't matter. It's nice to see they used FRAM instead of SRAM to skip having a battery inside. Lot of commenters on here have clearly never looked at or actually wired memory chips
