Almost done with Haunting Adeline & I agree, although I’m liking it, there’s some elements that make it unenjoyable :/

Ahhhh yes, I agree, especially with the lack of high stakes!! And also, it was very weird when her uncle was introduced & all of a sudden the plot changed, so yeah pacing was def an issue ://. But the narration made it worth it in my opinion lol

Yes 🫣, I just feel like most slowburns don’t give us enough about their romance. Like the buildup takes most of the time, which I LOVE bc I love the small moments, but I still want a glimpse of their life once they get together. I think Zapata is good at both tho

Ahhhh, you’re definitely right, I LOVED the narration & maybe that clouded my judgment bc the plot was questionable 🫣 (mostly)

I usually stay away from her bc I hate slowburns but I’ve read two from her already & I’ve surprisingly liked both 🤷🏻♀️

Fair hahah, but I feel like the listening experience is different bc throughout the book I was like “if I was reading this, I wouldn’t like it” 🤷🏻♀️
