This is a great question. I am not quite sure what the right answer is. Maybe a bit of both. I love the Lincoln quote and think we might be able to take some of this approach in the present day. One way to show how bad a law is, is to enforce it completely.

I think Lincoln would want us to find a way to work together to prevent it. It feels like such an impossible task now, but I think it must have been just as hard if not harder during the days of slavery. I think if he were alive today he would fear for America’s future.
